Why this page exists
Most concealed carry reference sites do not tell you when their information was last checked. That is the single most useful thing you can know about a legal reference, because carry law changes through statutes, court rulings, and attorney general directives on no fixed schedule — and a page that was accurate last year may not be accurate today.
So we publish our dates, including the unflattering ones. Every state below shows when we last checked that record against primary sources. Records we have not revisited in over a year are marked overdue and shown at the top of our queue. We would rather tell you a record is thirteen months old than let you assume it is current.
Figures on this page are generated at page load from the same data file that powers every state page, tool, and map on this site. They cannot drift out of step with what the rest of the site says, because there is only one copy of the number.
What a "review" means here
A review means we re-opened the primary sources — the state legislature's published statute text, the attorney general's guidance, the issuing agency's own permit pages, and any controlling court opinion — and confirmed the record line by line. It does not mean we re-read our own page, and it does not mean we checked another reference site. Before we publish a change we require two independent official sources, with the issuing agency's own guidance weighted highest.
A review often produces no change at all. That is still a review, and it still resets the date, because "we checked and nothing had moved" is real information. Read the full methodology →
