Utah carry status overview

Utah is a permitless carry state. HB 60, signed by Gov. Herbert, effective May 5, 2021 allows any person 21 years of age or older who is legally eligible to possess a firearm to carry concealed without a permit. Open carry is broadly permitted. A permit remains available for residents who travel to other states that require reciprocity.

⚠ Utah's CFP is one of the most widely honored permits in the U.S. — honored in 30+ states. It's also available to non-residents, making it one of the most popular permits for residents of restrictive states like California and New York. See our Non-Resident Carry Guide.
