CarryMaps is edited and maintained by Tyler Burke in St. Petersburg, Florida. Messages sent to the address below reach him directly — there is no support queue and no ticketing system in between.
Tyler is not an attorney and CarryMaps is not a law firm. What he does is narrower and, for this purpose, more useful: he reads the primary sources — statute text, attorney general guidance, issuing-agency pages, and controlling court opinions — and records what they actually say, with a citation and a date attached to every record. Where the law is unsettled, the record says so rather than picking a side. See the methodology or check how current any state record is.
Report a law change or error
This is the message we most want to receive. Carry laws change through statutes, court rulings, and attorney general directives, and no reference site catches every change the day it happens. If you find something on CarryMaps that is outdated or wrong, tell us.
To help us act quickly, please include:
- The page — the state or guide page where you saw the error
- What is wrong — the specific claim you believe is incorrect
- The official source — a link to the statute, court opinion, or agency page that supports the correction
We verify every reported change against two official government sources before updating, so a citation from you shortens that process considerably. Corrections we confirm are logged publicly on our law change alerts page.

Directory listings
If you are a certified firearms instructor or a self-defense attorney and would like to be considered for our training directory or attorney directory, send your credentials, service area, and a link to your professional licensing record. We do not charge for listings and we do not accept payment for placement.

Questions about our methodology
CarryMaps sources exclusively from official government material — state legislature sites, attorney general opinions, state police and DPS pages, and published court opinions. We do not use aggregators, AI-generated summaries, or other reference sites as sources. Our full sourcing standard, including how we handle contested or unsettled law, is documented on our methodology page.
If something about how we classify a state does not match your reading of the statute, we would rather hear it than not. Disagreements about legal interpretation have produced several of our published corrections.

What we cannot help with
We are not a law firm and we cannot answer questions about your individual legal situation. We cannot tell you whether you personally may carry in a given place, advise you on a pending charge, or review your permit application. Questions like those need a licensed attorney in the relevant state — our attorney directory is a starting point.
We also do not sell firearms, ammunition, accessories, or permits, and we cannot process or expedite a permit application. Permit applications go through your state's issuing authority, which is linked on each individual state page.
Response times
CarryMaps is maintained by a small team. Reported errors with a supporting official citation are prioritized and typically reviewed within a few business days. General questions may take longer. If your message concerns an urgent legal matter, please contact an attorney rather than waiting on us.
